The late HAMILTON-KNOX GROGAN-MORGAN, Esq. of Johnstown Castle, co. Wexford, J.P. and D.L.., formerly M.P. for that couty, b. 30 June, 1807; m. 16 March, 1829, SOPHIA-MARIA, 2nd dau. of Ebenezer ROWE, Esq. of Castletown House, co. Wexford, and grand-dau. of Co. William IRVINE, of Castle Irvine, co. Fermanagh, and by her had issue,
1. ELIZABETH-GERALDINE, m. to the Hon. R. F. DEANE-MORGAN (eldest son of Baron Muskerry) who d. 1867.
2. SOPHIA-KNOX, deceased.
Mr. Grogan-Morgan d. 9 June, 1854, leaving his daus. his co-heirs. Johnstown Castle is, for her life, the seat and property of his widow, who m. 2ndly 16 April, 1856, the present Right Hon. Sir Thomas ESMONDE, Bart. of Ballynastra.
Lineage.- John GROGAN, Esq. (son of John Groghan or Geoghegan, of the co. Antrim) settled in the co. of Wexford and was father of
John GROGAN Esq., b. 1653, m. 1st 16 Jan, 1682, MARY, eldest dau. and co-heiress of John REYNOLDS, of Wexford, merchant, and by her (who d. 28 Oct 1690) had one son CORNELIUS, his heir, and three daus. the eldest m. ----- TRENCH, Esq. the 2nd MARY, m. ---BROWNE, Esq. of Muhanken, and the 3rd, Elizabeth, m. John WADDY, Esq. of Cloghenst, co. Wexford, and by her had issue,
1. NICHOLAS, of Ardeandrish; 2 GEORGE, d. in the East Indies; 3 EDWARD, m. and had issue; 4 LAURENCE, d. at Barbados; 1 MARY, m. Andrew KNOX, Esq. of Mathmacnee, and 2 SARAH, m. William MORGAN, Esq. of Waterford, alderman and mayor of that city. Mr. GROGAN d. 10 Jan. 1720, and was s. by his son,
CORNELIUS GROGAN Esq. b. 23 March 1637, who m. 1 July 1716, ELIZABETH, dau. of John WHITE Esq. of Ballyellis, co. Wexford, by CATHERINE, his wife, dau. of Sir Humphrey JORVIS, lord mayor of Dublin, 1681, and had issue;
1. JOHN, his heir; 2 OVERSTREET, d. unm; 3 GEORGE, d unm. at Bombay; 1 CATHERINE, m. to Robert CARSON, Esq. and 2 ANNA-MARIA, m to Stackey SIMON, Esq. He d. 1724, and was s. by his son,
JOHN GROGAN, Esq. of Johnstown, b. 18 July, 1717, J.P. who served as high-sherrif for co. Wexford, 1746, and was M.P. for Enniscorthy.; He m. his cousin, CATHERINE, dau. and heir of Major Andrew KNOX of Rathmacnee, and had issue;

Wexford, d. 27 June 1798; 2 GEORGE, Town Major of Galway, took the name of KNOX, d. unm. 11 Jan 1784; 3 WILLIAM, an officer in the army, J.P. d. 1785; 4 THOMAS, lieut. in the army, killed at the battle of Arklow, 1798; 4 JOHN-KNOX, of whom presently, 6 OVERSTREET, barrister-at-law, b. 1762, m. Elizabeth MORAL; 1 CATHERINE, m. to Vesey COLCLOUGH, Esq. of Tintern Abbey, co. Wexford, M.P.; 2 MARY, m. to Sir George RIBTON, Bart.; 3 ELIZABETH m. Ebenezer-Radford ROWE, Esq. of Ballybarty, co. Wexford, and 4 ANNE, m. James WHITE, Esq. of Middletown, co. Wexford. The fifth son,
JOHN KNOX GROGAN, Esq. of Johnstown, J.P. b. June 1760, d. 20 March, 1814. He m. 1st, 26 Oct. 1784, ANNE, dau. of Chidley COOTE, Esq. of Ash Hill, co. Limerick, and by her (who d. 24 Oct 1785) had one child, ANNE COOTE, m. 1807, to John GREENE, Esq., of Greeneville, co. Kilkenny. He m. 2ndly, 1 Jan 1803, ELIZABETH, dau. of Stephen FITZGERALD, Esq. of Ballythomas, Queens co. and by her (who d. 23 Oct. 1827) had issue, the last survivor of which was the late HAMILTON-KNOX GROGAN-MORGAN, Esq. of Johnstown Castle.
