Thomas KERVIN was born May 1845 in Ireland, possibly County Wexford, to Thomas and Mary KERVIN. He came to the United States in the early 1860’s and married the widow Anna McGRATH CLONEY in Trenton, New Jersey in Oct. 1865. Family lore has it that she sent money back to Ireland to bring him over after her first husband, Denis Cloney, died. Thomas and Anna moved to Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL by 1870 and had three children, Mary, Lawrence and William. Both Mary and Lawrence died before 1890 without marrying or having any children. William, however, was quite prolific.
William married Louisa KERIN in 1889 and they had 15 children, 11 of whom lived to adulthood. From oldest to youngest, they were: Mary (Mame); Louisa (Deed); Margaret; Larry; Bill; Denis; Tom (Deedle); Charlie; Irene (Rene); John (Jack); Anna. Not surprisingly, there are numerous surnames associated with their offspring. They include HEFFERNAN; BRISCOE; HARLAN; VANSICE; RODEMS; HINTON; COGGAN; REINHART. Hoping to find some cousins as well as determine where the original KERVIN came from!
