Looking for my ancestors from Wexford from the 19th century.
All the variants of my surname come from the Gaelic name Mantain; ie; Menton, Mentin, Mantan, Mantain, Mountain, Miniter etc.
Thomas Menton born 1865-1870 Wexford. Fathers namne Thomas. Mothers name Maria. Parents resident in Gorey in November 1891. 1901 and 1911 census from Dublin where Thomas married and lived until his death in 1934..he is buried in Mt Jeromne cemetery in Dublin but I cant find his fathers resting place...maybe he was buried in his home county or another county where he had some children living when he died and was buried in a family grave there.
Can anyone help me with the possibility of a birth in Wexford that may have been within a Catholic diocese of Wexford but was in another Civil district or can anyone tell me wher I could access a map of Ireland around 1870 with civil and Parish boundaries outlined.
Familiar family Christian names were Thomas, John, James, Peter, Stephen, Denis, Mary, Ann, Bridget and Ellen.
