Hi Penelope , no , we don't have any common relatives , my wifes paternal grandparents were born on the IOM in the late 1800's. The Manx people as well as the Scots almost always (98%) named their children after family , first son after father's father , second after mother's mother , third after Father. First daughter after mother's mother etc. So based on this Charlotte's parents should be John and Margaret , so found this marriage:
4/7/1805 John Keaney to Margaret Fayle , I found only three children to this couple on the IGI , christened in Braddan and Douglas
ch 23/10/1819 William Kennah F John M Margaret Fayle ch 9/2/1823 Joseph Kenney F John M Margaret Fayle B 11/12/1825 Ann Kennah F John M Margaret Fell Ch 30/9/1832
It is strange that there are no children on the IGI between 1805 and 1819 . Do you have the details of Charlotte's birth in 1811 ?
AS you can see the father John has three ways of spelling his name and mother Margaret two. If this is Charlottes parents , the IGI shows Margaret ch 27/7/1788 in Braddan to John Fayle and Catherine Cowley.
The IOM burial records shows Margaret Kennaugh buried 6/7/1866 aged 78 in Malew , age is right born 1788 , I have asked somone for the Memorial Inscription from the Cemetary( if there is one) HOWEVER
Another poster shows this Margaret remarried William Craine in 1843 , after the death of John prior to 1841. Margaret is with her children William, Joseph and Ann on the 1841 census in 1841.
Do you know who Elizabeth Sharpe and Theresa Hindle are ? they are also researching your family , not sure what site Elizabeth is on , but Theresa is on another IOM genealogy site :
