This message is for all the persons who have HERON and/or WILSON ancestry.
Lester Holt, the popular NBC Anchorman and the Host of the NBCTY "Weekend Today Show", is a descendant of Captain Alexander Woodburn Heron, and Jessy Heron of Wigton Plantation, Jamaica. Captain Heron owned several plantations in Manchester, Jamaica (including "Wigton" which he inherited from his father, Alexander Heron formerly of Scotland), Shoooter's Hill, Williamsfield, Kendall, Glasgow, Chudleigh, Mile Gully, etc. Captain Heron's father, Alexander Heron,a Scotsman, married Jamaican-born Anna Maria Smith (formerly of Bossue Plantation and Prospect Pen Plantation). Their children also included Frances Catherine Heron (later Mrs. Alexander Woodburn) of Scotland; and Anna Maria Heron (later Mrs. McCatty of Montego Bay, Jamaica, who owned the famous Doctor's Cave property).
Captain A. W. Heron, and his mistress, Jessy Heron (later was called "Mother Mac" or "Grannie Mac" by her grandchildren and later generations due to her subsequent marriage) had two daughters, Catherine Heron (later Mrs. Marsden) and Frances Eliza Heron aka "Fanny"(later Mrs. Alfred Edward Wilson).
Lester Holt's great-grandfather, Arthur Edward Woodburn Wilson, was a grandson of Captain Heron and Jessy Heron (aka Mother/Grannie Mac). Arthur Wilson, being the eldest son of Alfred and "Fanny" Wilson. Lester's grandmother, Iris May Wilson (Mrs.DeRozario), was Arthur Wilson's daughter, and June DeRozario Holt is Iris May's daughter. More info. on Lester's Jamaican geneology can be see on the MSNBC archive.
Firstly, we are interested in hearing from Wilsons, Herons and Marsdens who commented on Lester's visit to Jamaica along with his mother, June Holt, on the MSNBC BLOG. The visit was aired on the "NBC Today show" on Saturday May 11, 2007. During this visit he met with several family members including former Prime Minister of Jamaica, The Most Hon. Edward P. G. Seaga, ON, PC. Secondly, we are interested in hearing from all persons who are descended from William Heron and his wife, Agnes Heron (nee Dalziel). late of Wigtownshire, Galloway, Scotland, esp. the descendants of their daughter, Mrs. Jean Heron Woodburn, whose son, Alezander Woodburn married Captain Heron's sister, Frances Catherine,( Alexander Woodburn, resided in Jamaica for a time); and their sons, Alexander and Robert Heron, who migrated to Jamaica,
