Hi Oliver,
Thank you for your reply. I am searching for the birth father of my husband's great-uncle (it is a bit complicated). We suspect that his father was not his birth father due to a number of reasons. One clue was that his mother Elsa Tiedemann mentioned that Heinrichs Karlis (Steinberg) had 'German blood' (both his 'father' and mother were Latvian so this doesn't quite add up). Heinrichs godfather (according to his birth certificate) was Heinrichs Wolzik. We suspect that he is Heinrichs' real father. According to the details I have: He was in a commando unit during World War 2 and most likely met Elsa Anna while she was working as a nursing assistant in the Military Hospital in Riga, Latvia. They met while Elsa Anna and her husband Otto had separated for awhile. Elsa and Otto eventually reunited and Heinrichs (Jr.) was raised as Otto's son. We have a photo of the Heinrichs we are looking for. If you contact me via email I'd be happy to send it through to you so that you can see if it is the same person as your great-uncle. Searching for a bit of a needle in the haystack so any help you could provide would be fantastic.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Julie
