I saw your post in the Colombia forum with the alternative spelling of 'sahadi.'I am searching for information on my grandmother, Elizabeth Saady (I was originally told the name was Sahadi) who immigrated to the U.S. from Beirut through Ellis Island around 1882.I was told she was related to Joseph and Mamie Sahadi/Saady (brother and sister), in New York.
Joseph Saady worked with the New York City Public Transit System and later in a manufacturingbusiness.Elizabeth was introduced by Joseph and Mamie Sahadi to Sawaya Sevier duBois (or Diabas), a seminary student who may have been an interpreter onthe ship Elizabeth came over on, and they were married around 1883.They eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Elizabeth and Sawaya duBois had ten children: Lena, Julia, Mary, Anna, Margaret, Roger Patrick, Michael James, Walter Ernest, Edward Joseph, and Charles Joseph.
If these names are familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you.Thanks.
Pat Dubois
