Lebanese people are a mixture of many races of people. Early on the people that lived in that area were Canonites and later the related Phonetians. Greeks, Franks, Hebrews, Romans and many others lived there. They began to speak Arabic aroubnd 1700 and before that they spoke Aramiac. In the time of the Romans they spoke mainly Greek. Since it is really impossible to define what an Arab is that is not a very meaningful question. Like other people all over the workd they are quite a mix just as for example the English are. The only true Arabs are likely from the mointains of Arabia. No people anyplace can claim a pure race and I think Lebanese are more defined by their food then anything else. Right now the "arab" word is dangerous. Other tines it meant greatness.
