DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE CORRECT ARABIC NAME FOR "THOMAS" AND "TOMMY?"
what an amazing site! i stumbled upon it looking up the correct arabic name for my birth name. i am trying to find the correct spelling and pronounciation for my name. thomas is my birth name although i've always gone by "tommy." being a preoud lebanese american and having a high appreciation for my culture, i am trying to learn the correct spelling for my name in arabic. i know that the name "thomas" is a biblical name meaning "twin." i also know that the aramaic name for "thomas" is "te'oma." my ex (who is from lebanon) told me that "tommy" in arabic is "tuma." i have also heard from other lebanese that "tuma" means "headstrong" and also "garlic." i have been told by other lebanese that "thomas" in arabic is spelled "mtanous," "tanous," "tannous" and "tanyos." which is correct? is it pronounced tan-oos or tan-yoes? can someone please clarify which is correct?
