I am working my new (2 yrs)grandson-in-law's family ... I know nothing about the history, customs, etc. but will learn and will go back to read the previous postings. But I'd like a 'jump-start' if anyone out there has ties to the following immigrant:
Asada Khoury. The 1920 St. Louis MO census gives his age as 35 years, born in Syria. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1912 with his wife Edna, age 30, and daughter Hilda, age 12. He is listed as a shoemaker. This census also gives the following children, born in MO: Helen, 7; Joseph, 5; Rose, 3-2/12; Anna, 7/12.With them is Mary Ferris, age 33, widow also born in Syria ... perhaps a sister to Edna? Not knowing anything about name customs it seem a little odd to me that the two women have names such as Edna and Mary -I have no maiden name for Edna or Mary.
Anna Khoury, b. 1919 in MO, married Wilburn Edward Leonard. I have five known children listed.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!! Trevia
