I was told by the elderly in our village, that Younes family was part of Nasroddeen family in Jebail mountains (Keserwan area). That during the Turkish attacks on Shiite in Lebanon, some of them converted to Christianity and some to Sunnis, the ones who remained Shiite, escaped to Ba’albak and the South. Does any one know the origin or Nasroddeen (Naser Al-deen) or (Nasr-Al Din) family? Some say our origin was Phoenicians who converted to Islam and Christianity with different religious missions... Some say we came from Iraq, and others say from Arabia. In the same family we have green, brown and black eyes, with blonde hair, black hair, white skin and tanned skin. This means we have mixed gene pool. I know that Lebanon was a center for trade between east and west and it was a colony for the Greeks, Romans, Persian, Arabs, Turkish, and the French. But can someone explain where these characteristics came from? Is there a documented link somewhere? Verbal information seems to be contradictory. Also does anyone know anything about Safieh Family, or Kasem family origins?
