THank you for your reply! I tried to outline how I think we may be related but I am unsure of exactly how.
My great grandmother was Amina Alexander Moubarek. SHe was on the Titanic with her sons George and William and her sister Celiney Yasbeck (Celiney's husband did not survive). Amina and the boys settled to Clearfield PA to be with my great grandfather George Moubarek who had arrived earlier. THeir name became Borek in America.THey went on to have 2 more sons, Roy and Daniel. Daniel was my grandfather.
I am searching for info about the parents of Amina and Celiney Alexander and also George Moubarek.I have done alot of research ( I am a reseacher at work!) and have found many names for possible ancestors. I have found the names George Borek and Anna Decker for the parents of George Moubarek "Borek". From some old Titanic news articles, I have found the names Isbir Jirjis Moubarek, Antonyus Jirjis Moubarek and Kan an Jirgis Moubarek as people from Wilkes Barre who went to NY to see about the Lebanese survivors. If Jirjis is a name for George, I may have found some connection. I have also found info at hardineworld.com that lists Moubarek as a family name in Hardin.
As for Amina and Celiney, I am pretty sure their maiden name was Alexander. I have found Celiney's parents names listed as Alexander Thomas andCatherine Corry, but from the Carpathia ship records I found the name of Catug Hanust for the mother of Celiney. A similar name is written for Amina (Hannah Catu), but I am sure something was lost in translation between the Lebanese and English languages. Also, another name is listed with Amina's on the Carpathia info- Mefcorikor. I am not sure how that may translate into Lebanese, possible a Korey connection? I was not raised near my Lebanese ancestors so I am quite unfamiliar with Lebanese dialect, although I am learning!!
I will continue to do research. I will try to contact Robert Decker again as his mother was Celiney and he may have info on that side of my family.
Hope to talk to you soon- I will post any new info I get! Sandy
