I am trying to figure out the origin of my maternal families last name KASSE, I am fairly certain it is not the original spelling, maybe close to the original pronounciation. I have found the surnames Kassis and Kassem, which sound (at least to me) similar.
The oldest references I have to the name is my great-grand father JULIAN, his brother Abraham and sister Antonia.
They setteled in the province of San Pedro de Macoris.
Julian, according to family tradition, was actually born in Lebanon, he seems to have been born around the turn of the 20th century.
