Wow, there are so many similarities here, I do not know where to begin.I cannot help but believe that the two families tie together.Zivara/Zibara are too close. My grandfather, Butros Zibara was born about 1876 in Hasroun.I know of the following siblings:Khalil, Salina and Rada, but that does not mean there were not more children tothis family.Perhaps if they are not brothers, they are cousins sharing the same grandparents:Tannus Abdallah Zibara and Marun Awad/Aouad.Here is what I have on them- note that Khalil eventually goes to South America:

First, I would probably establish your Tannous/Tomas's parents. One of the threeMaronite Churches should be able to help you.If we are lucky, our families will tie together.
I am leaning towards St. Jude's but I am not certain.I know that my Assemani family belonged there because my great-grandfather, Hanna Assemani, was a priest there in the early part of the century.
If you would be so kind as to look up my Butros Zibara's birth and marriage dates and any information on Butros' parents, Tannus Abdallah Zibara and Marun Aouad/Awad, I would be thrilled. If you could get the names of the Parish Priests and find out how I can request copies of birth/marriage/death records (and send the customary donation for said records), that would also be helpful.
I am also interested in how your visit goes- I would like to go to Hasroun but am afraid.I have no immediate family there so I would need to find a hotel room and places to eat.I do not speak Arabic and would have a difficult time understanding or being understood. And, I am also a bit anxious about being an American citizen in a country known for its hatred of Americans.
Thanks so much for your help!Best of luck!
