There is a Selvester Jankanska (Ancestry.com index spelling) or Silvester Jankanska (Ellis island DB index spelling), age 21, who arrived 9 June 1909 at Ellis island. He was on the SS The Potsdam which sailed from Rotterdam, Holland.
The original Lithuanian spelling of the surname is Jankauskas with a "J".In Lithuanian,it would be pronounced with a "Y" sound (as in Young).
He was headed to his brother in Lewiston, Maine. It says he was hospitalized (rubber stamp entry) as well as deported (possibly).
See if this might be him.
Also, visit your local Mormon Family History Center (FHC) for additional information on their records for the Holland America Line passengers sailing from Rotterdam.
They have two sets of records. One is available on-line only at the FHCs and the other is on microfiche which needs to be ordered. The two sets of documents contain different information which would be useful for your research.
