Dear Mr. Bagaloff,
Your posting appears to be very old, but since it ends with HELP!, let me try.
I am Bulgarian (51), and live in Sofia. My mother's family origin is from Dumbene (also called Dumbeni), to the North-West of Kostur (today Kastoria), very close. Her mother, Sofia (Sofka) must be Bagaloff (actually, I believe they used to call themselves Bagalyov) by birth. Her brother, Numo (Naum) Bagaloff, has emigrated to the USA with her husbend (my grandpa, Krustyo, then Stavro) around 1909-1910. In 1912, my grandfather Stavro-Krustyho came back to Bulgaria and enlisted as volunteer in the Balkan War, to fight for Macedonoa/Bulgaria. Numo however, stayed in the USA, was in the real estate business, and raised a family of two sons - Kosta, Lewis (actually Lazar), and one daughter - Christine. These Bagaloffs appear to be kin to you, as they are to me.
Christine was a Broadway musical singer, then married Mr. Philip Willson, psychoanalist, had children, lived on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, NYC, and died in Bosten, Ma., in 2005. Kosta used to live in San Diego, Ca., was, I belive, an engineer, worked at a plant where parts for the Apollo spaceships were manufactured, etc., but, as far as I know, never married, and is long gone. Lazar-Lewis married a Croatian girl, Angie (Angelina), lived in Munster, Indiana, and had children. I think that he might have passed awawy too, but am not sure.
I am aware that, because of the time elapsed since your posting, and since you are active on the Internet, Facebook and all, you might alctually have already acquired more and more accurate info on what I am writing about, but, since we appear to be relatives (by the way, my father's familiy originates from the village of Zagorichane (Zagorichani, Zagoricheni), very near to Kostur and Dumbene, across the lake, to the North-East), I will be glad to have helped you a little. My mother, now 92, visited the Bagaloffs in 1978, there has been some correspondence, but not lately, and we should have information about some of the younger Bagaloffs at home, bu not up to date.
Please, use this forum, or, better, my e-mail address: [email protected], if you are interested in further communication or have some queries, or just feel like writing/chatting to s.o. who's actually family, distant though.
God bless you
