I have been trying to track down my grandfather whom I've never met before. My dead-end searches have been ongoing now for the past 40 years. I am unsure whether he is still alive, but his name was Aleksandar Velkovski, and he was born in Prilep on the 21 February 1930. He was born with the name Aleksandar Kocovski, but when his father died shortly after, he was raised by his grandparents, so his name was legally changed over to Aleksandar Velkovski. His father's name was Arsenije Kocovski and his mother's name was Spasija Kotevska.
My grandfather divorced my grandmother Marija, and remarried a lady by the name of Todorka Pashoska in 1952.
These are the only facts I have, and it has been a long life dream of mine to meet my grandfather, or at least have one photograph of him.
I think about him everyday, even if he is unaware of our existence. I thank him silently each day for the precious gift he created, my mother Vaska, who is the most nurturing, patient, gentle, meek and loving person I know and who possesses angelic-like qualities. I'm sad that he has missed 61 years of her life, and that he never got to find out for himself what a special daughter he has. Deep within my heart, I've always believed that somewhere deep in his heart, he has thought of my mother too.
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone out there reading this, then what a miracle it will be to put an end to this 40 year search.
Thanking you so much for taking the time to read my email. Greetings from Australia!
