My name is Kirt Bennett and I reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I have been researching my family for about ten years now and am excited to join this group.My family is from the Bay Islands and the northern coast of Spanish Honduras.They are descendants of slaves from the Cayman Islands, Belize (formerly Brittish Honduras) and by oral tradition I am told Jamaica.Many of my ancestors left the Cayman Islands between 1830 and 1860 for Honduras.
Because of the work of many Caymanian genealogists, I have been able to successfully connect with my Caymanian roots.My hope is to use this forum to do the same with my Jamaican roots. An asterisk precedes all surnames with possible Jamaican ties.
