I have been searching for William "James" Paisley b1801, Ire and his wife Mary Barnett Gibson b1810, Ire.They had a child believed to be the first by the name of Mary Jane Paisley b circa 1832 in Antrim, Ireland. This family emigrated to Canada after 1838?We have addition children born in Ontario in 1841.
Mary Jane Paisley b1832c married Thomas Mac/Mcdonald in Ontario, Canada in 1858.They had a number of children some of which ended up in Ashland, Wisconsin. If I can find birth records or emigration date for Mary Jane or some clue it may unravel this family and we can take the research from Ontario (where it sits stuck in the mud) back to Ire.
My grandmother always referred to the family as scotch. Were they Ulster Scots? My grandmother also said that her grandfather, James Paisley had some trouble in Ire that is why he left (the boot?) and ended up in Ontario, Canada?
A friendly person suggested I search for parish records with surnames of mother, father, Barnett-Gibson & Paisley. I have found, Shankhill, Six Mile Cross, Co Tyrone, Cloghfin, Termonmquirk, Tyrone, Bracky, Belfast. But the searches have not progressed as hoped.I find the names but nothing concrete to tie to my family.
I also searched for family of Ian Paisley the activist. This family group had been in the areas of Gibsons & Barnett's.No info to tie in.
My Paisley/Gibson Barnett family was Presbyterian.
We have a heafty trail along with census and have tracked the children in Ontario, we just cannot get back to Ire.
William James Paisley b1801 & Mary Barnett Gibson b1810 children:Mary Jane b circa 1832, Sarah b1838, William John b1841, Margaret b1845, David b1848, Matilda b1850 & Susannah b1854.
Is anyone tied to this tree? Any suggestions for advancement to Ireland?
