I was hoping to find some Minnesota information for the Waldahl/Valdal/Waldal brothers, John and Ole, and their sister Karen Elisabet Valdal, but nothing that really jumps out at me for the time frame we need, from Ole's emigration date to about 1901.
This possible marriage:
groom's name: Ole Waldal bride's name: Inga Opsal marriage date: 13 Oct 1888 marriage place: St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota indexing project (batch) number: M74663-7 system origin: Minnesota-EASy source film number: 1314516
And maybe a birth of a child:
name: Whaldal event: BIRTH event date: 01 Mar 1889 event place: St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota gender: Female father: Ole Whaldal mother: Yuga volume/page/certificate number: Page 189-742 digital folder number: 4221392
The problem with Minnesota is that there is an 1885 census, and an 1895 census. What we need is one in between there, to at least find the brothers. I wonder if they emigrated to Canada for more land, since they came too late to get any free homestead land in Minnesota. The question is, how did Karen Elisabet go from Minneapolis, Minnesota as her destination in 1891, to ending up in Canada. Did she actually go to Minnesota first, or stay in Canada.
