I am trying to figure out when Marie Eliasen (1830-1916) was remarried and her immigration year from Norway.
Here is what I know about Marie (alt Maria, Mary), born in Buskerud, Norway 09 Mar 1830 to Elias Ericksen and Else Johnsdr.
She married Ole Larsen 18 Dec 1855 in Buskerud, Norway and gave birth to Andreas Olsen 16 Jan 1856.
For some reason Andreas is placed with Marie's sister Anne (Throsten) Anderson family on the 1865 Norway census. I thought Marie and Ole died as Andreas immigrated with his Aunts family in 1867 to Canada and finally to the USA in 1868. But Andreas (now Andrew) finally mets up with his mother but she is remarried on the 1875 St Olaf, Otter Tail, Minnesota state census to Hans Stolpestad born about 1815 Norway. Two other children are listed below Andrew, Andrias (aka Andrew) and Thea both born in Wisconsin 1863 and 1865.
Hans died between 1885-1895 and Marie lives with Thea and her family Erik Erickson. Marie is listed on both 1900 and 1910 census to have arrived in 1870. 1900 census list her the mother of one and one living (that would be Andrew), but 1910 says she is the mother of three and three living (Andrew, Andrew, and Thea). Then she dies in 1916 and the correct parents are listed.
I am hoping that by learning when she was remarried it would verify who's mother she is biologically. Knowing when Ole Larsen (hubby number one) died would help narrow the gap. My guess is he died before 1865 in Norway which is why Andreas (Andrew son number one) is with his aunts family, but this is still undetermined. (Not sure if divorce was common back then in Norway.) What I can't determine is if she married Hans before leaving Norway or after then sent for her son.
I have ordered Marie's death certificate, and have all census records for her starting in 1875 St. Olaf, Otter, Tail Minnesota. I tried to order her obtiuary from Otter Tail Historical society, but they only have research up to 1910. I have also tried tracing the lines of the second Andrew and daughter Thea, but so far have not come accross any trees that had an answer. Hope someone can help me get pointed in the right direction.
