Assistance needed in checking records in Land parish
I need to clarify a birth in Land parish.I am tracing an ancestor who on her wedding license in Saunders county, Nebraska dated 27 Apr 1885 stated she was 26 years old.The special Federal census of Nebraska of 1885 also states she is 26 years old. This would make her birth date 1859.Further, the US census of 1900, 1910 and 1920 all list ages which are consistent with a birth date of 1859.On her application to a church in Burt co., Nebraska she stated she was born in 1859 in Sondreland, Norge.Records from relatives give her birth date as 21 May 1859 and the date of her death as 16 Apr 1921 in Washington State.
The problem with this is that I have been unable to find her in the records of Land parish (Sondre Land, of course, didn't exist until 1866).However, on her marriage license she listed her parents as John Johnson and Emily Oleson and in the 1865 Norwegian census there is a family on Frydenlund farm in Land parish with a father named Johan Johnsen (age 35), his wife Emilie Olsdatter (age 27) and their daughter, Inger Marid Johnsdatter (age 9).Inger is listed as being born in Land parish.
The problem with the Frydenlund entry is that while the names fit pretty well, the age of the daughter is off by three years.I hope that some records (bygdebok, gardshistorie, immigration records, etc.) could be found which would prove once and for all whether this Frydenlund listing is correct. Is the daughter's age in error in the 1865 census?Does this Inger Marie still live in Norway when we know that my father-in-law's grandmother was in the US (she imigrated in 1883 according to church records).
I have worked on this problem for at least 15 years without any luck.I have looked up the birth records of Land parish on microfilm and could not find any which fit these names for births on or near the year 1859.
I would really appreciate any assistance or suggestions anyone could provide.
