grandmother Helena Fernandez-Hernandez,her mother Eldemira Hernandez Fernandez(father was Zamora, but died when she was an infant, so she went by her mother's name),her mother Saturnina Giron, Her mother Wenscela Ruhan.
Except for the Fernandez-Hernandez which is all too common, the other surnames seem rare and I'm having trouble finding sources for these names in Panama.
My mother died a few years ago, and a couple of weeks before she died I found out that her mother had been pregant by her father at 15, as seemed unfortunetly so common in that era, he also impregnated the ambassador's daughter. He married the ambassador's daughter. She had three more children (including the last, my mother) by him. Impreganting her seemed to be the extent of his perceived responsibility toward her and her children.
Somehow this 15 year old girl with an 8th grade education managed to send the three of her children who wanted to go to college, to college, outside of the county. She apparently was quite an amazing woman.
I have mtDNA markers for this lineage if that is of interest to any readers, just ask!
