Oral history tells us that our ancestor Louisa (Louise) Wippel (Wipple, Whipple) and her twin sister, Mary, left Germany with some friends in 1843 as 18-year-olds. They had been born in Baden, Niedersachsen, Germany. Mary went to Lima, Peru, and she married a man named Maloney. Louise settled in the Michael Valley, in Michael, Illinois, and married Nicholas Bellm. Louise Whipple and Nicholas Bellm had a daughter, Katie Bellm, who is my great-grandmother.Katie recounted the story to my grandmother (her daughter Louise Schmidt Venverloh) and added that for many years there was regular correspondence between Louise Whipple Bellm and Mary Whipple Maloney, which unfortunately ended when Louise Whipple passed away. None of the letters exist today.
Where do I go to look in Lima, Peru to find any descendants of Mary Whipple and Mr. Maloney?
