Hi, In polish language “ch” is a one letter, “ch” it’s a Grammatik “h”, so: ch = h. Grechowo spell “Grehowo”.
Grechowo – does not mean anything, sorry;( Grechowo has nothing to do with "Greece". Greece in polish is "Grecja".
In polish is some else letter “ó”, who is Grammatik “u” (ó=u)
One more thing. Is some village Grechów (http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grech%C3%B3w) [Grechów/Rzeczniów/Lipski/Mazowiecki/Poland]
Polish is very changed language. Poles speak Village: Grechów, but I go to: Grechowa I be in: Grechowo Etc.
I too found “Grochowo” 1. Grochowo /Sulêcin / Lubuskie / Polska 2. Grochowo / Kêsowo / Tuchola / Kujawsko-Pomorski / Polska „Groch” mean „Pea”. 3. Grochowo Pierwsze / Sztutowo / Nowy Dwór / Pomorskie / Polska 4. Grochowo Trzecie / Sztutowo / Nowy Dwór / Pomorskie / Polska „Pierwsze” mean „1st” „Trzecie” mean „3rd”
If You want located Grechowo, tell me in which year Your great-grandfather leave Poland. Or maybe You know name of region from which he emigrated ??
You must know, that polish border many time be changed, and Your Grechowo can be in today territory Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia or Czech.
