Hello. As per my other related posting, I thought I had posted here before, but I seem not to have.
I am looking for other people researching the MOURA and ROSE families in Sao Miguel.
In particular, I am looking for further information on Francisco MOURA and Philomena ROSE who lived in Sao Miguel (St. Michael's) in the late 1800's.They had a daughter, Elise "Elsie" MOURA, who was born ~1893 in Sao Miguel. When she was 12, she came to MA / USA to become an indentured servant.
"Frank" and "Phoebe" MOURA had four other children:
Francisco MOURA who probably moved to CA.
Manuel MOURA who moved to Brooklyn, NY, and his descendants probably still live there.
Rosalina MOURA married Charles PERRY (probably PEREIRA) and lived in Cambridge, MA.
Carolina MOURA married Frank MEDEIROS and lived in Cambridge, MA.
"Elsie" MOURA married Antonio PACHECO in Cambridge, MA, in 1912.They had seven children born to them, but only five lived to adulthood.
.. I believe that Frank and Phoebe MOURA might have lived in Brooklyn, NY, for a short time before moving to Cambridge, MA, OR .. they had relatives in Brooklyn, whom they visited.
Mrs. Phoebe MOURA seems to have migrated to MA / USA about 1918.By 1920, she was a widow.I don't know whether she arrived in MA as a widow, or whether her husband died shortly after arriving.
I am told that this MOURA family might have come from Sao Miguel, but there is a possibility that they first lived in Santa Maria and then moved to St. Michael's.(Or, they might have moved to Sao Miguel from the Madeira Islands.)
