I don't live in Romania, but rather in San Diego, California. My own research concerns the Bukovina Hungarians, but there were many connections between the German and Hungarina ethnic communities in Bukovina.
Today, there are virtually no Germans or Hungarians left in what was once Bukovina; the German population was mostly resettled in Germany or German-controlled areas in 1940, and the Hungarians all left in 1941. Most of the Hungarians eventually settled in Tolna County, Hungary.
I do have a Hungarian researcher friend living in Tolna county who makes an annual trip to Bukovina.
The German settlers of Bukovina have been quite well documented, though most of the literature is in German. The church records of Illischestie are also available on LDS microfilm, which can be borrowed from your nearest LDS(Mormon)Family History Center.
