Hi Betty, Sorry it took so long to reply. My computer broke and I just got a new one. I am not sure if there is a connection or not. I have been told that my family comes from that border area. But the borders changed so quick and often it is hard to tell.my GGrandfather's name was Eli(elie)and he had brothers and sisters that no one knows about now. I do know that my Ggrand mother was a teacher over there and spoke about 10 languages. Also at one time my Ggrand father was wanted in romania for some reason by "the enemy" and hid in the mountains, while they tortured his wife to find out where. She never told even though she was with child. Thats about all i know. Here is a side note though. It may be possible that the Ureches origaniated in Spain. I have found the nameback in the 1500's in the northern Basque region. This was also backed by info i recieved while stationed in spain by some of the civilians i worked with over there. Please write soon and i hope we are related. Also I talked to a Tavi Ureche in Romania and he seems to be very evasive with any info. Maybe you will have better luck.
