I was wondering if anyone could help me with the surname DRAGUESCU.I'm looking for relatives...my family comes from Comlos, Romania (also spelled Komlos, and in some cases Nagykomlos...but I'm not sure if that's the same town...help?).They came to this country (the US) in the early 1900's and settled in Philadelphia, PA, Cincinnati, OH, Detroit, MI and in Chicago, IL.
All I know about them is that there were 9 brothers, all but one settled in the states I believe, I don't have all of there names, but I do know of: Mihai (wife in Romania and no kids), Vincent (my great-grandfather, wife, Lena Ionescu, in Romania and 3 sons - one in Romania, one in Chicago and one in St. Louis), John (wife and kids - not sure where they settled), Stephanut (wife, Ana, and two daughters settled in Chicago), one brother with the nickname "Paun" ( settled in Chicago, had one son who had one son).
I also know of a Nicolai and his wife Tudora Tulcea who settled in Chicago and then in Detroit, they had two sons named John and Nicolai and a daughter. There is also a man named George married to Milca Sarafolean who had a son named John who originally settled in Chicago and then CA.there is also another Nicolai who married Hermina (nee. ???) and had five children - all settled in Chicago.I'm not exactly sure how these last families are related to me, but I beleive they all come from the same town.Other spellings for the last name that I ahve seen are: Draguesku, Dreguescu, Draguiescu, Dragueszku, and variations of the like.
Any info on these people or the surname in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
