I am a beginner trying to reconstruct some of my heritage; unfortunately, most of my elders on my father's side of the family have passed on and I am relying on memories and what I can paste together. Perhaps you can help or give me a pointer or two.
My grandfather was Michael [Murg] Morge. He arrived at Ellis Island in 1907, it appears. His place oif origin is listed as Arado, Hungary--Might that be Arad?
My granmother was Flora [Murg] Morge. She arrived with her teo year old daughter Flora in 1910 to join him in Scalp Level, PA at the coal mines. He maiden name was Christe and they list her coming from Erszentkiralz, Hungary. A helpful gentleman on the Hungarian forum pointed out that this likely referred to "Er-Szt-Kiraly" in the 1910 era of Szilagy Megye (County), which roughly translates to Saint Charles/Carl. He tells me this should be about 6 miles northeast of the town of Tasnad in northern Romania, about 30 miles southwest of the city of Satu Mare.
Can someone tell me the current name of this small village and perhaps what local churches might be present?
