I have recently learned from my cousins in Constanta, Romania, that our Caragata ancestors did not hail from the vicinty of Ramnicu-Sarat. They believe that my aunt must have confused the places of origin of her father's and mother's families. Her mother's family, the Adamaches, originally hailed from Ciorasti, near Ramnicu-Sarat. According to our Romanian cousins, our Caragata ancestors originally hailed from the village of Zavoaia, in Braila County, Romania. Circa 1880-1885, my great-grandparents, Tudor Caragata & his wife, Cristina Oprica, moved south from Zavoaia to Castelu in Constanta County.
