As a follow up -webelieve that my grandfather may have come from Kis-Kukullosard which is now Soard in Mures county. He hada cousin, Jon Regula, who came from that village in 1914. He also had a second cousin,Jon Tescula that came from Hejjasfalva in 1914. Hejjasfalva is now Vanatori in Mures county. The villages are very close and are now part of the Vanatori commune. Several Szakacs's are also from Kis-Kukullosard and appear to have gone to Torrington Conn..Per the Romanian phone directory there are lots of Szakacs',Socaci's and Socaciu's in Mures today. Those names appear to be very common throughout Romania. They appear to be pronounced the same and mean either "saxon" or "cook" depending on which document you read.We still have not been able to find my grandfather in the EI records. We have searched using the additional search methods by Steve Morse. We searched on all Hungarian/Romanians that sailed from Hamburg from 1912 to 1914 that listed Sard, Kukullosard, Kis-Kukullo, Kis-Kukullosard,Soard, Sardu, Hejjasfalva,Hejasfalva and Segesvar as their home. We found no one from these areas that matched his age (14 to 20)or his physical appearance ( 5'-6" with Brown hair and blue or grey eyes). He never maintained contact with his cousins and their descendents do not have any information about their past. Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look next? How does one obtain Romanian records from Mures?
