hello. my grandmother came to the united states in 1905 from i believe the telesca/calisca area. her maiden name was RODEAN. she was married to nico dean BUNO.
my first question is as to the name BUNO. one aunt doesnot believe that buno is a roumanian name, but was changed upon entry. the only document i have is a birth certificate of an uncle which was written by a russian in russian. that name translates to BUNYA.
so i would like to know if BUNO is a roumanian name or if it could be buna, bunyea, bunya, or bunoui.
second question is from where did most roumanians travel to the united states in that era. perhaps from germany or ports on the black sea? i can not find them on ellis island.
