Looking for Russian (or Ukrainian) Records for LOUIS MITCHNICK, born 1889 in "Aleksandrowsk, Russia". This was in what is now Ukraine, and was east of Odessa, and north of Crimea. He originally immigrated to Manhattan, New York, New York, after 1910 and before 1918 (possibly 1911 or 1913). I have not been able to find a Ships Passengers List for this Immigration. He moved to Detroit, Michigan between 1920 & 1930. He was a Jewish accordion player & a composer, and had a music business in Detroit (also in Chicago & Manhattan). He invented a new type of accordion reed, and many well-known accordion players preferred his accorions. He was a Naturalized US Citizen in 1930 when he went to Italy on business and returned in time for the 1930 Census. I cannot find any Records of him in Russia or Ukraine. He supposedly deserted from the Tsar's Army, and supposedly wandered about Europe for awhile. Any ideas where I should look?
