My 2nd great grandfather, Teodor Symoczko, was from Hanczowa, Poland (at that time part of Russia). Tracing back documents I found his birth town but recently new documents have come to me by the Russian Orthodox church where he was married in the United States after immigrating and it's left me confused. The documents I have retrieved are for his marriage record in 1911. On there it says he is from Golancz in Gorlice county. Is that possibly an old or Russian name or nearby town to Hanczowa? I have previously written to the archivist in Sanok who was able to find my 2nd great grandfather there and trace the family back many more generations. Stranger still, his wife Alexandria Babei (might also be spelled Babi) is listed as being from the town of Stolida in Nowy Sacz. I can't find any trace of either Stolida or Golancz (I know there is another Golancz in a different area of Poland). Any help would be immensely appreciated.
