I have a considerable amount of information about my gg-grandfather, Louis Falk. I know that he was born in Libau, Courland (then a province of Russia, now the city of Liepaja, Latvia) on 25 DEC, 1839. Sometime before 1860 he emigrated to the US. He fought for the North during the civil war, earning his naturalization papers. He was then a clerk for the Treasury Dept. until 1976. He then took a trip back to Russia. Upon his return to the US he moved to Palatka, Fla. where he seems to have lived the rest of his life. He was married in 1883 in Philadelphia to Jenny Swed. He died Apr. 10, 1900, a respected local businessman and property holder (among other locations, the New Arlington Hotel) in Palatka. He had three children by his second marriage. My great-grandmother was the second of them.
There are parts of the puzzle that I don't have, however. I don't have any information about his parents, brothers or sisters. I don't know the exact date of his emigration. It also seems that he had been married previous to 1976 and had 5 children, but I cannot find his first wife's name (it was burnt off of his passport) or any of those children's names. I also don't know if his son by his second marriage, Clarence Falk b.1884 had any children.
If anyone has more information about Louis Falk or is interested in my information, please feel free to contact me.
