Hi, Thanks for the response. I am using "The Melvilles etc" by Sir WIlliam Fraser as my main source of information. It says in reference to the ceasing of a MELVILLE line with Elizabeth MELVILLE marrying AUCHINLECK . "A branch of the Melvilles of Glenbervie inherited the separate estates of Dysart in the Parish of Maryton and Baldovie in the Parish of Craig, both in the County of Forfar. Andrew, and his nephew James were cadets of the Melvilles in Glenbervie being descended from the Melvilles of Baldovie" . Andrew "The reformer" and his older brother Richard were children of Richard MELVILLE of Dysart (1502-1547) who died at the Battle of Pinkie.
It is his father I am looking for. He is referred to in other places merely as "MELVILLE of Dysart". Kind Regards, Brian
