Although my birth record has my surname as Rose, my DNA says I am a McVicker. I have searched every record I could find of any McVicker's, in or around, my birthplace in remote Upper Michigan, to no avail. There were no permanent McVicker residents living anywhere near the area. However, there were many transient men, during our Great Depression in the early 1930's, looking for work in the lumbering industry, and I'm sure many were in our area. FamilyTree puts my birth family in an area north of Glasgow, but many generations in the past. There were other Scot/Irish families in the area with names like McCollom, McCullom, McNeill, McMillan and McKitchen.
