Anne, firstly a lesson in Scottish geography (when I first started searching for my Scottish ancestors, I almost new nothing but the location of 3 main cities, a couple of historic sites, and a few regions, needless to say I am no exbert but have leant a lot since Nov last year). Haddington is in a county north-east of Roxburghshire, that county is today know as East Lothian, before that it was known as Haddingtonshire. Scottish Statutory records started in 1855, so unless you are lucky you may not be able to find the marriage record, as records before 1855, known as Old Parish Records (OPR's) are patchy at best. However the 1840 census for East Lothian is almost finished being transcribed, by FreeCEN, I was one of the transcribers. Many parishes are currently on-line FREE, I will post the URL later. You also should consider joining the Rootsweb list for East Lothian. John Dods Wellington, New Zealand.
