Annie, another geography lesson (& a bit of history too-- :-)). Berwick the city, is in Northumberia, England. The Scottish county is called Berwickshire, this very confusing to those who don't know. The city was Scottish but its been on the English side of the border for hundreds of years. you can search the 1901 English census at http://www.familyrecords.gov.ukhttp://www.familyrecords.gov.uk and follow the links. The census index searches are free you pay to view the actual entries. The 1881 English census is free on the LDS site, under the very misleading heading 1881 British census (there are no Scottish census records on the site). You can feel free to contact me, dodsgenealogyatyahoo.com. Hope your hubby is on the mend. John in bitterly cold, Wellington, New Zealand.
