I have a James Narry on the 1881 Census, and interesting reading it do make. 10 Cross Wynd, Hawick, Roxburgh. James Narry 51, Scavenger born Ireland, James son 18, Scavenger born Dumfries, Esther 16, Wool Factory Worker, Helen 12, Michael 9, Bridget 7, and Mary Ann 1. No mention of Wife Mary or son Peter at this address. After another look, I found both of them, as follows. Mary Connor or Narry was a Prisoner at the "County Prison" Jedburgh, 34 and a Housewife. Peter was a Prisoner at "Her Majesty's Prison" Regent Road, Edinburgh, aged 19, Hawker of Hardware. I hope this has helped you in a small way.
