I am researching the Burrows family in the Isle of Man and have become interested in the fascinating life of Capt. William Burrows, the elder brother of my gt.gt grandfather Richard Tyson Burrows. Several of you have contacted my daughter Gemma on this forum and kindly sent her info but I have picked up the task of collating and gathering now that I have retired from teaching. Many of the messages on the forum seem 2-3 yrs old; I wonder if anyone has done any research lately that would add to the basics we have. I have completed a tree for the manx end of the family but I am still confused about the Singapore faction! We tried to contact Elsie's descendants in Amsterdam with no success. We have a letter that she wrote to my gt uncle Joe in 1974 and another to his son in law after his death, both of which told interesting stories about life with Capt William and Mona. The brother John b 1841 died in 1895 in Malew IOM but I have not searched for descendants yet; the tree we have is already complex and with luck can only grow bigger as we find out more. I intend to visit IOM in April to find out more.
