Allow me to admit that I am piggy-backing on Zlatica's intuitive work.
I sorted through the 1828 Hugarian Census List of Villages (available on Tarkulich's site) and came up with possible Megye = counties where there is a Viszoka. They are TRENCSEN, HONT, UNG, and SAROS MEGYE (county). Saros Megye has a Tarcza.
Adding to the confusion is that these names changed over time.
Convinced that Zlatica had made a good guess, I checked phone listings. A bit east of Torysa is the following listing: Jozef Raca Na Trubalovec 244/3 Pec'ovská Nová Ves
Still no PROOF but we have the possibility of further research if we accept some of the above.
CHURCH RECORDS AT LATTER DAY SAINTS (MORMON) LDS FAMILY HISTORY CENTER (FHC) When searching for genealogical information, knowing the birth village is paramount because records are organized by village not nationally, so it is not possible to search on a national basis. It is also necessary to know the religion. To locate church records for Slovakia, knowing the village/town name, go to the LDS web site: www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp
LDS has Roman Catholic parish registers of baptisms, marriages and deaths for Torysa, Slovakia, formerly Tárcza, Sáros, Hungary. Includes affiliated town of Olšov, Slovakia, formerly Olysó, Sáros, Hungary.
LDS also has the VERY INFORMATIVE 1869 Hungarian Census on film:
Tárcza (Torysa)FHL Film 2150621 Item 3
Viszoka (Vysoká)FHL Film 2150621 Item 4
LOCATE YOUR NEAREST FAMILY HISTORY CENTER AND ORDER FILM You can go to the LDS web site to locate your nearest Family History Center (FHC) and determine their hours of operation. You will need to go there in person to order the film(s). In about a month, the film will arrive and you can book a film reader and begin your research.
TRANSLATION OF CHURCH RECORDS Checkout http://www.bmi.net/jjaso/http://www.bmi.net/jjaso/ for parish record header translations.
LDS also has a pretty good translation guide which you can download. See forums.delphiforums.com/iarelative/messages message #3931.1 for details.
Look at the left side, brown area, for Hethars = Lipany. Head west two villages to Tarcza = Torysa. That's one village. Then, head in a U shape west and south to Hambor = Brezovic'ka and Magas = Vysoka.
Go back to Hethars and head along the highway two villages southeast to find Pecsujfalu = Pec'ovska Nova Ves (per above phone listing).
SAVE the map on YOUR computer. OPEN the map in any graphics program. CUT and PRINT the relevant section of the map. Otherwise, you just get a corner. This map uses the Hungarian village names that you will likely find in church records.
