Hello Robert, Thank you for your reply. I have very little to go on with this family & am basically trying to establish backround for the family name.
Current generation uses Lasso; however, prior generations circa 1900-1910 in Chicago Leso was used (at least on 1 child's birth cert. in 1907--William, who was 6 of 6 children at the time). As a child I seem to recall ethnicity for this family being referred to as Hungarian, yet the sole remaining son of William says Slovakian (he thinks). The belief is that the immigration of this family probably falls in the 1895-1905 range, yet no hits via the Ellis Island website.
With the plethora of Chicago records available (& this grandson of Michael being born/raised in Chicago w/no other locale involved), cannot locate any census entries for Michael & Anna (nee Motyl) with multiple children, incl. the William born in 1907; no other birth or marriage records, no death records/obits, etc. Have tried numerous spellings & still find nothing, which is making me wonder the likeliest backround of the surname & variations that may have resulted/used.
My great uncle has quite an interest in his backround, but due to a rift in his family had no contact with them for a long time & now there's no one left that can supply any info. Since I share this interest & have been able to piece together our shared heritage, I offered to try to help find his branch but am drawing a big zero.
If you or anyone else reading this forum have any insights regarding this family name, I would certainly appreciate hearing them!
