Attached is the page of your house 35 together with the book cover.
I shall scan the rest of the chapter at a later time when I have access to a better scanner....I hope that's OK with you.
I managed to understand that the house is no longer there (what a shame!).The house took the name of Gasper who was born 1786.
The history seems interesting.......30 coins?mention of the ages of 16 & 17?I if you can get a proper translation, please let me know what this is all about.
The book is out of print.
I have a suggestion. You couldwrite (in Slovene) directly to the author, a roman catholic priest, Father Janez Kebeand ask if he has any copies to sell ?You never know.I have his address.
There is a book written in english about another village in the same valley.
The author is Irene Winner (Prof of Anthropology). It was published by Brown University in 1971 and is titled “A Slovenian Village Zerovnica”.
It is a anthropological study of a village similar to Babno Polje and Iga vas (my ancestral village). It gives a great insight into the lives of the villagers, customs over time andthe history of the region. An easy read.
It can be bought second hand over the internet.
There is a slovene site called Stareslike ( Old Photos to 1971).It focuses on Loska Dolina and Cerknica areas.
A couple of old photos of Babna Polje are published there. And one of the contributors is a Milena Ozbolt who lives in a nearby village.
I have made one contribution and it was the first bilingual ( in Slovene & English).
This is the link and it will give you some idea of the information and detail of the photos.
