Over the past 5 years I've learned that some of the information I originally posted back in 2004 was incorrect. I now know that my great-grandmother was born Carmela Roble Rios, sometime in 1900. Chuito de Cayey was her brother-born Jesus Roble Rios in 1910. Don't know why he chose to be known as Jesus Rios Roble. But their parents were Jose Roble Torres and Maria Rios y Maldonado. Colon was her married name; which she acquired sometime in the mid to late 1940's. The trail I picked up starts in Jayuya Arriba (Utuado?) in 1910, and goes to Jayuya Abajo, to Cayey, onto Ponce. They may even have started out in Ponce before 1910.
I've also since learned that the Roble/s name was brought over from Spain by 3 brothers. One clan settled in Fajardo, one in Morovis and the other in Ponce. I hear alot about the ones from Fajardo, more than the others. I'm suspecting that my Roble may hail from Ponce since I have many Torres ancestors from there too.
Anyhoo...I'm still searching. So please, if you're out there with some similar info; please write me. Really look forward to comparing notes. Thank you in advance! Carol
