It seems the Skoczylas had better luck finding family records for Kolechowice, Poland. My grandfather Boleslaw Zabielski, born Jan.1, 1894, & his older brother Antoni, born June 7, 1891, born in Kolechowice, were smuggled out of Poland by Jewish family friends (in 1910 & 1912) to prevent them going into the Russian army at age 18. The elder arrived in Quebec City, & then my grandfather in Halifax, N.S. @ Pier 21. Their father, Juszef Zabielski, was sent to Siberia for smuggling them out & died in a labour camp. The family estate was called ZABIELE (with a coat of arms over their gate) & the land was taken over by the Russians. Remaining family fled to Spain during WWI. Where would I start to look for family records - impossible as I can't speak Polish!? Any suggestions?
