My name is Neil Grant and I live in Melbourne , Australia .
I have been researching my family history on my mothers side of the family for quite some time now . It has been a very slow and arduous process as my mother died in 1985 .
To complicate matters her father (my grand father) died here in Australia in 1951. What I do know is that my grandfather came from Ceylon and was from a family of tea planters and that they had an estate in Pundaluoya . Its name as far as I know was " Choicy " or " North Pundaluoya Estate " My grandfathers name was Justin Claude Marcel . My great-grandfathers name was Harry Marcel.
I have been searching through your website and the amount of information available is just astounding. I commend you for having such a resource available
Neil, North Pundaloya and Choicy are estates that still exist. North Pundaloya also has its own website (http://www.mascons.com/html/tea.htm) in which they provide contact details. Perhaps you can write to them and ask them to look up the information you are after. Some estates (particularly the factories) still house their historical memorabilia and records and hopefully you may have some luck with them.
Let us know if you strike gold!
