The Barber family I come from owned the Barber Chocolate factory in Matale, they were mainly estate owners, some were also in Matara. My Grand Father, was Arthur Cecil Barber, married to a Mis white (the duncan white family). He had 2 duaghter and two sons, Cecil Aelian Barber and Luton. When my Grand father died his wife married again Mr. Jayatilake --- My Father and his brother was ill treated they escaped into teh army and navy, foughtthe war and later my father Cecil Barber married my Mum. He lost all contact of his sisters, His brother stayed around with him, and he passed away, my dad too has passed away.
I have got some old newspaper articles of the Barber chocolates, and made some references, as we had some white's trying hard to get in touch with a Joustra, who is living in Australia, in order to see if they could still have some say in the estates, which are actaully no more in the family lineage.
There is a Bob Barber living in Kent whom i did call up and said he was a cousin. I could not call back thereafter. Isn't it interesting to find out from where we have sprouted!!!. The barbers are also barristers referring William Barber who I think was my grandfathers brother or cousin. The were all in Kandy quite great sportsmen too, and writes
Maybe It is true I was a great sports person. and i do write as well. Just curious to know who my ancestors are and if I do have any relatives around.
