Dear A Samarasinghe, re LDS films. The LDS FamilySearch website has the Colombo Dutch church records, 1677 to 1990 on its site, as well as lots of other church minutes etc. There are a few Galle marriage banns on the site, which are mistakedly marked as Colombo Marriages. You need to go to the Asia and Middle East collection and click on Sri Lanka, click Western, click Colombo and listed are films for viewing, click on what you want and you have to search each frame as the films have not been transcribed. These are only a small selection of the SL films available. At LDS Church Family History Centres around the world you can order in films from SLC for 3 weeks, with an extension for a further 3 weeks at cost if film not ordered by someone else.. Your access depends on what country you are in and how far you are from a Mormon Church with a Family History Library. Cost inQld, Australia is $5.00 a film and$1.00 for every page printed, you can transcribe as much as you like by hand. Books. If you are in Australia interlibrary loans are the best way to get Dutch/British Ceylon English language books. It costs $13.50 on interlibrary loan if it is not in your State Library. Some books can only be read in a library as theyare pre 1900, or rare. Photocopying is usually allowed and the loan period is 3 weeks. There are numerous British Ceylon books on the internet now that can be read on line for free. Cheers Larry&Coreen Andresen.
